Publisher Description

Did you know that Panda simply means bamboo eater? In days of old, they think that Panda’s ate meat and were warrior bears! Today, they largely eat bamboo and their numbers have diminished significantly. The research base in Chengdu, China has been instrumental in breeding these amazing animals and has begun reintroducing them into the wild. With their patient research, we are all hopeful that these magnificent beasts will again begin to breed in the wild and that their numbers will become sustainable!

The black and white pandas at the research base were much more active than we had hoped to see. The youngsters were busy playing in the trees and seeing who could eat the most bamboo. As they age, these animals become solitary with their days consisting of eating and sleeping!

The red pandas were thought to be in the raccoon, but have recently been classified into their own family; Ailuridae. These small animals that are a bit bigger than foxes, are very aggressive. It’s no wonder they live mainly alone.

We hope you enjoy both the red and the black/white pandas!
