Publisher Description
I began making panoramic photographs in the 1970s after seeing
the work that American photographer Art Sinsabaugh created with a 12” X 20" view camera. I liked how panoramic photographs could subtly alter space and enable the viewer to look at ordinary things in a different way.
I wanted to buy a camera like Sinsabaugh’s but was unable to find one. Next, I turned to glueing together darkroom prints of carefully shot overlapping photographs. Not satisfied, I tried using in-camera panoramic masks to create the proportions that I wanted. With the invention of Photoshop and Lightroom image editing software, I began to use the Photomerge option. With this process, I could blend together two or more photographs to produce a new photograph. One of the byproducts of this technique is an increase in texture and spatial detail.
