“Why Me?” and Intrigue
The story continues as Melphiera begins to open up to Baron Galbraith about herself and why she has doubts about getting engaged to a man of such high standing (higher than her own family). Baron Galbraith reassures Melphiera that she will be welcomed by the people of his territory and is desired by the Baron himself as a man, not just for her skills and research.
I do like that there is key information talked about that we don’t know the full contents of. That information being more detailed reasons for why Baron Galbraith wants to marry Melphiera, the risks to Melphiera for her research and her as a person, and the extend of the Baron’s understanding of that situation. This leaves me invested to learn more about Melphiera’s importance, the kind of impact she will have, and what animosity she will draw that the Baron promises he can protect her from due to his power and position.
And the couple continue to be cute as they make me laugh and smile. Galbraith’s flirting, Melphiera’s eagerness and blushing, and other people’s comedically drawn reactions.
