Xander Martin is a member of the Terran Peacekeepers, the guardians of order on the fringes of the frontier. Beyond the borders of the Terran Republic exist numerous worlds and civilizations of humanity, each with its own distinct agenda and ambition.

During a routine patrol to Takalu, Xander discovers the ruins of a fleet engagement in the orbit of this remote frontier planet. He quickly finds himself entangled in a vast and rapidly unfolding series of events that may have lasting implications for humanity as a whole.
