Ben and Tenzin are two mated air vampires who have been given their own spin-off series from Elizabeth Hunter’s Elemental Series. A visit to a celebration on Penglai Island where Tenzin and now Ben’s sire lives along with the other 8 elders, turns into a mystery adventure neither of them were expecting.
A beautiful Seal has been stolen that has a special Pearl embedded within, a gift from the mate of one of the elders and an important treasure to Penglai Island. Though Penglai Island has been featured throughout the series this book wonderfully built up this mythical beautiful mysterious magical place that is the seat of the most powerful vampires or the East. The world building was mesmerizing and the character building was also a plus. Readers get a further glimpse into Tenzin’s past, Benjamin’s growth strengths, they are a true power couple in this world and its also so numerous as Ben loves to rib Tenzin. The two have many humerous moments throughout the book that is so typical for this couple and make this book even more entertaining.
The couple are assigned the challenge of finding the pearl seal and what was behind its theft. Discovering deeper issues than this theft such as also stolen items and gold from the islands well guarded treasury, the betrayal of loyal servants and children of the elders brings this roller coaster ride into a very exciting adventure.
We also get to see Ben’s growing and special talents as a young vampire that goes well beyond his Amnis.
The story ends back in California at Gio and Bea’s home to celebrate the holidays with the family and Ben’s sister. Another awesome addition to this series and a wonderful escape into this magical mythical world.
