He has probed into the roots of underdevelopment in the country and has examined British domination in its different aspects. The author has made use of and interpreted social theories and ideas to make his study systematic.

Peasant studies are increasingly coming up in India. The book is a modest addition to the literature of this genre. In this book, the author has touched upon peasant-worker alliance. He has also examined the important aspects of modernization of peasantry in India. The author is engaged in more studies in the same discipline.


About The Author:-


G. Krishnan-Kutty was born at Alwaye in Kerala. He was educated at the Presidency College, madras. Later, he went to study in Paris. He studied at the Facultede Droit of the Universite de Paris, and the Sorbonne in Paris Again, he worked in the Institute of Applied Science (L' Instituted de science Economique Appliquee) founded and directed by Professor Francois perroux. He also worked in the Religious Section of Ecole Pratique des Haules Etudes of the Sorbonne with Professor Claude Levi-Strauss as the Director.


In 1985, he published a book on Colonialism in India: Roots of Underdevelopment. His other publications are: Perooux's Theory of Dominant Economy (A Study of its application to British India) and Essays on Keynes. He belongs to the teaching profession, and is presently on the Faculty (Economics) of the Institute of Management in Government, Trivandrum.


He writes normally in English and French; his mother-tongue is Malayalam in which he can write well.


Presently, he is working on a research project under the auspices of the Indian Council of Social Science Research and the Indo-French Exchange Programme. The subject of the research project is: Perrouxian Ideas and British Domination in India: A Contribution to Indian Economic Policy.
