Personal Protective Equipment

Young workers like to think they are invincible.  But the truth is, they are injured in the workplace each and every day.  The one common thing about these injuries is that they are preventable.  One means of preventing workplace injuries is the proper use of protective equipment. 


“Personal Protective Equipment” provides information on the purpose of PPE and relevant laws regarding it’s use.  It also focuses on recognizing workplace hazards and the proper use of PPE to keep workers safe.  This book relays this information in an engaging and interactive manner.  The interactive features include video, audio, photo galleries, quizzes, slideshows, word puzzles, and more.   Featuring content created by youth for youth, this book should be a valuable resource for workers everywhere.


The book is a compilation of learning activities completed by students of the Occupational Health and Safety course at St. Kevin’s High School, Goulds, NL Canada. It is the second in a series of digital textbooks relating to workplace safety and youth.  This project was made possible with the generous support of the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission Youth Safety Funding Initiative, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
