Personality and Research Styles: Why We Do the Things We Do (Report‪)‬

Introduction: Background As two academics using the holistic lens of qualitative research methodologies to explore the world, we keep returning to the question, "How are our scholarly colleagues in the information field drawn to a particular research topic or research methodology?" Rather than continue to speculate on the answers to this question, we have begun an investigation of what motivates and guides information studies scholars' choice of research topics and research methodologies. Are there patterns to be identified of personal idiosyncrasies that influence individual researcher's choice of research strategies? How do personality or cognitive styles shape a scholar's choice of research methodologies? What motivates and guides each scholar's choice of research topics and research methodologies?
