Publisher Description
The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a thirteen-month mass protest that was
sparked by the arrest of Rosa Parks on December 1, 1955. The Montgomery
Improvement Association (MIA), with Dr. Martin Luther King as president,
coordinated the boycott to take place on Dec. 5, 1955. It was his fi rst role as a civil
rights leader.
This would be an important day for ten-year-old Charles Patt erson Everett IV
(Peter), who doesn’t quite understand all the talk about boycott s. He eventually
gains an understanding of the meaning of it all after hearing Dr. King speak,
learning a valuable lesson that would stick with him for a lifetime.
