Following the Clues
When the son of a peer is murdered in his mistress’s home, Lord Petteril is asked to solve the mystery of the murderer. Of course, his clever and resourceful assistant April comes along to help him. The authorities think the murderer is Percy Austen, Anne’s former protector. Piers and April use careful observation, interviews, and eavesdropping in their investigation. They follow clues and information to ballroom and the rookery. They even consult with a Bow Street Runner is has sought one of their suspects for other crimes, but has not been able to bring him to justice. There are two clues that drive Piers to corner the criminal. When he is wounded in his effort, April reacts in fear, and the heart of their relationship changes a bit. This is an exciting story with murder, mystery, danger, old friends and enemies, secrets and surprise that keeps your attention start to finish. Lord Petteril is settling into his role as the viscount. April is growing and coming into her own. Will they continue to work together, or will their friendship change? This is a most enjoyable series, and I look forward to what is next for Lord Petteril and April.
