Brilliant tale about what Love is
This is the book that inspired CS Lewis to begin searching for More to life; he claimed that MacDonald not only changed his life but was his master as a writer.
This story is a mishmash of fairy tale elements all centered around the implications of loving another vs seeking to be loved or to own another. The wise woman will be familiar from other writings of his. The story of Cosmo and the mirror, the knight with rusty armor, his marble lady, and the girl who starts out with the globe are all visions that will stay with you. If you are stuck, feel free to skip a page or two, since continuing on could change your life as it did CS Lewis.
