Phantom echo
Liked it. Seemed a little over the top in places.
Entertaining!
The wise-cracking protagonists in this novel perfectly capture cop talk among themselves. Light-hearted words to each other and fellow law enforcement personnel to deflect, to,cover, and to reach out in camaraderie were spot-on dialogue, although extremely frequent. Suspension of disbelief is vital to accepting the story, for there is too much minutia in procedures to ever make the actions of the two leads available. In real life they would have been stopped, stonewalled, censored and dismissed for any one of their aberrant actions.
The plot was somewhat thin, but the well-rounded glimpses of other cultures, other mores helped to flesh out that scaffolding. This story is what the reader wishes could occur more than one in which the reader believes they did occur.
Still, it would be a joy to have a beer with these guys.
