Philippine Folk Tales

This collection of sixty-one Philippine myths and legends was gathered by Mabel Cooke Cole while spending four years with various tribes of the Philippines. The annotated stories offer a glimpse of a world where gods create humans out of reeds, betel nuts, and skin; the quarrels of animals shape the laws of nature; and men and women entangle with enchantments that usher them to their destiny or their doom.
