Interesting and thought provoking
The album is reminiscent of similar collections of urban photography. It brings to mind the experimental late 90s issues of "Emigre" type catalogs/urban scenes and graphics that came out towards the end of the output of the California duo of Zuzana Licko and Rudi Van Der Lans. The everyday shots of "everything and anything" with a treatment of old film lo-fi color shift, fade and light leaks are supposed to tell some sort of a story.
I noticed an almost overall lack of people. There were some, but most of the time they were in the peripheral and were incidental to the shot.
The feeling I got was mostly of lonely places, devoid of life, urban plight, decay or just plain. I got the sense of almost angst and panic, as of the photographer was desperate to find SOMETHING they could photograph that has meaning, color, life!
The sum impression of the album for me was not enjoyable. I felt tired and wasted having been on a fruitless and pursuit of something and ending up with emptiness. A lifeless city scene where I had no desire to visit much less live.
Perhaps this was the intention of the photographer/story teller, perhaps not.
It is not an easy album to go through and is not typical of my taste but it was an interesting trip.
