Pinch Elementary School

In 2015 Pinch Elementary became the first elementary school in Kanawha County, West Virginia to offer a 1:1 iPad education. We continue to seamlessly integrate technology into instruction, and completely transform the curriculum to emphasize personalized learning. Some of our favorite student learning projects that are highlighted throughout this book include Digital Learning Day that focused on creating a technological mentorship with both students and teachers from a neighboring elementary school, initiating a new school tradition of hosting a STEAM Camp for all Pinch students, and participating in an extensive school-wide problem-based learning project where students engineered future economic possibilities for the state of West Virginia. Pinch Elementary offers an authentic, progressive, and forward-thinking curriculum that ignites a passion for learning, and purposefully nurtures the individual talents and abilities of all students. We believe the only way to prepare students for the future is to meet their individual needs, and use their personal strengths to encourage greatness within.
