A rustic small town is full of dark, maddening secrets in this chilling sci-fi-horror mystery. Special Agent Ethan Burke has been sent to the rural community of Wayward Pines in search of two missing fellow agents. But when he wakes up in a local hospital (which feels more like a prison) after an apparent car crash (which he doesn’t remember), it becomes clear that there’s something sinister in the bones of the seemingly quaint town. With every interaction Burke has with the people of Wayward Pines, there’s a creepy, ominous feeling gnawing at the edges. But things really get freaky when he tries to flee the place—and we won’t say any more, because we don’t want to spoil it! If you think this mystery sounds like it’s headed for a mind-bending twist, you’re absolutely right. Brilliantly evocative of the eerie small-town moodiness of David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, this is a true up-all-night read.

Fun
Another fun read and a great story. Blake Crouch, for the most part continues to expand on what he started with Pines. I watched the tv series years ago but have to rewatch again
Something to chew on. Love it
The vast amount of ambiguity would usually lead to absurd amount of questioning and at times veering a readers mind off the goal: getting to the next page. When I got to 700, I was struck with upset. I couldn’t believe it was almost over. It feels like the story is just getting started and we just got all the answers. Left craving more, the next two books already purchased. The only thing left for this trilogy is to make that first book into a movie. I can only imagine that cliff scene. Bravo!
