To the world, Robbie McNeal is a young man to be envied. A senator’s son, raised in wealth and privilege, he’s got everything—but all he really wants is the courage to ask out the girl in his government class. He has reached the age of transition, the final four years before all of society’s secrets are unveiled, along with the rights of full citizenship. He’s new to college, new to adulthood, and totally unprepared for the penalty he must pay when he makes one very bad decision.
Madison Piper, a fellow freshman and art class model—and the subject of Robbie’s unshakable crush—will be instrumental in his discipline.
The punishment will be televised. The show, born from a law written by Robbie’s own father, is in its second year. The audience needs something new—and the common people can’t wait to see Robbie pay the piper.

“ I could never hate you, Mandy. No matter what.”
I really liked this book. It’s long but I read it in one day. The author has created an interesting dystopian world that I would hate to have to live in though it does make an intriguing setting for this story.
Many reviews claim it’s a bdsm romance book. I am here to say this is not true. While there are bdsm elements to it and a love story does take place, very little of this book focuses on the romantic relationship between the main couple. They only have two very brief conversations the first half of the book and the big punishment scene together three quarters of the way through until the last few chapters where we finally get to the romance part. To me that’s not a romance novel it’s a fiction novel with a love story. These are not the same thing although we do get our HEA at the end. I’d be furious if it hadn’t at least provided that ending.
Now, reviewing this as a fiction book I want to say, it’s very good. There are so many incredibly interesting characters including Maddie’s two best friends, Robbie’s closest friend and many more in the prison itself. As for the two mains, I absolutely adored Robbie, just like apparently everyone else in the country. Maddie on the other hand took a while for me to warm to. She seemed too indecisive and her personality was all over the place. She could have been a much better heroine and I was disappointed she wasn’t. Matron, the nurse in charge of the entire program, was the most interesting character in the book. Her scenes with Robbie made what could have been an average book really great. She was just incredible.
