I'm the office introvert, a blast of socially awkward sunshine on a stick. Donovan Taylor is a broody, gorgeous soccer player with a chip on his shoulder. We are not a thing.
But when my boss sends me to a pro sports banquet, I stumble in late and find the only empty seat next to the San Francisco Strikers' resident hottie and marquee player. Of course, I promptly make a fool of myself. I don’t even expect him to remember my name, let alone kiss me.
Or ask me out.
I mean, seriously, I program computers for a living and play mahjong for fun. I don't hook up with gorgeous green-eyed players and stroke their egos or their abs--although it’s a hell of a good time--because I know it will never last.
But my competitive streak runs hot, and Donovan may be the one person who can get me the promotion I deserve. All I need to do is convince him to join my company's virtual reality sports game--avoid falling for him in the process.
So what if his moves off the field are as impressive as his moves on it?
How hard can it be to win at his game?
Playing for You is an opposites-attract sports romance and is part of the Berkeley Hills series. Each book features one of the feisty Finley siblings and can be read as a STANDALONE novel.
Such a great sports romance
What a great sports romance! I’m not even a soccer fan, and it made me want to go to a match and cheer a team on. So all that’s required to read this book is a love of great characters, excellent banter and sweet and steamy romance!
Tatum and Donovan are a great match…they just bring out the best in each other. While an introverted coder and a soccer star might seem like opposites on the surface, each have ambition to excel, but obstacles in their way. But they can help each other push through those barriers, if they have the courage to trust, but not fall, for each other.
Loved this pairing and this book!
Tater Tot and Donno
This is the story of Tater Tot and Donno, or more precisely Tatum and Donovan, but I feel like I know them by now and they would be cool with me using their nicknames…. probably…. anyhow she’s a nerdy coder and he’s a soccer star. Their paths cross because she needs to convince him to sign on for a sports video game she making. He’s not as interested in the video game as he is in getting to know her. She’s not a soccer fan and has a hard time believing he’s into her.
Stacy Travis has a way of writing characters that makes you feel like you know them personally and the story then becomes a retelling of how your friends came to fall in love.
Stacy’s writing is very smooth. She moves a story forward effortlessly so much so that you forget you’re reading a fictional book.
This is a opposites attract sports romance that is a definite must read. It is book 4 in the series but could be read as a standalone.
Tatum and Donovan 😍
I really loved this book. You will swoon, laugh out loud and be entertained by Tatum and Donovan. Tatum is a bit of a workaholic and feels she needs to be in order to compete in a male dominant profession. She’s a self described nerd who loves coding and programming. Donovan is a soccer star that has recently moved to the states to play with the Strikers football club. He recently left Europe to get away from some off the field drama and is looking for a new start. Tatum and Donovan’s initial interaction is nothing short of hilarious and hot! Stacy does an amazing job of bring these two characters to life with deep feels, love, protection and a great sense of humor. You will be cheering them on even when they hit a rough patch. They both have amazing support systems that give them sound advise and help them get out of their own way. This is a stand alone but I suggest you read the other books in the series to understand some of the other characters and because the books are great! I requested an arc and I am leaving my honest review.
