In a world where humans live exclusively in mountain towns, the lowlands are dominated by octopus-like creatures known as Poctu. However, the Poctu have a secret protector powerful enough to ensure the extinction of humankind if need be. As Kolber tries to maintain peace and convince Trindles to cease his war with the Poctu, their guardian has other plans.
