Poems 2007-2017

Poems written between 2007-20017. These poems reflect themes common to much poetry--life's difficulties and brevity. Some are responses to books I have read, most though were composed in response to situations I have found myself in. These situations are not in any way unique though at the moment of composition they presented themselves to me with a certain urgency. An example is the poem I wrote while shopping at a mall A Day Out in the World. It contains the commonplace feeling of alienation that often arises in circumstances like that. However, it also expresses a feeling of hope or at least comfort that being human allows us--not often perhaps but just often enough.
