Goddard (Don't Keep Silent) opens her Rocky Mountain Courage series with this thrilling romance set amid an investigation into a smuggling ring. Detective Jack Tanner reunites with former girlfriend Terra Connors, who works for the Montana Forest Service, when a body is found deep in the woods outside of Big Rapids, Mont. The dead person is Jim Raymond, a well-known local insurance salesman. While investigating Jim's death, Terra and Jack find an stolen cache of Native American artifacts in a remote cabin. Terra is certain that they have stumbled on a smuggling ring. When Terra returns to the cabin and someone sets it on fire with her inside, the investigation switches from potential theft to attempted murder, and they begin to suspect Jim might have been an unwitting accomplice to a sinister operation. As Jack and Terra close in on the smuggling ring—and learn just how lucrative smuggling Native American artifacts can be—they are no longer sure who in Big Rapids can be trusted. As more attempts on Terra's life are made, the possibility of losing each other forces Terra and Jack to admit their feelings and give their relationship a second chance. Though faith elements are subtle, this will be a great entry point for those new to Goddard's high-octane inspirationals.

Best suspense read of the year
Ella has moved from the city to Deep Haven to start over after her father died. Instead of taking care of her and paying for her education, her father left her with a mountain of debts when he died. Ella's mother died over 10 years ago from complications due to being exposed to some cleaning chemicals. Ella has since devoted her life to making safer products and making people aware of the harmful effects of different chemicals. Adrian's family owns Bear Creek Resorts. Adrian is trying to prove himself within the company. He is campaigning to open a hotel and water park in Deep Haven which would expose the people and town to harmful chemicals used for cleaning and running the place. The two are thrown together when both have to complete community service for Deep Haven. Can these two, who have opposing goals, work together?
Wonderful story of persevering through loss and life's struggles. The two main characters struggle with proving themselves on their own merits. They also struggle with their faith and believing that God is interested in their everyday lives. It's about discovering your true self and what you're made of. This is a fun and witty feel good book with a modern Cinderella vibe. Christenson does a wonderful job of creating characters and a story that makes you want more. This is a stand alone novel, however, if you are a fan of Susan May Warren and her Deep Haven novels, you will enjoy this book. It takes you back to a place that feels like home. You will recognize some of the supporting characters and meet some new ones along the way.
I definitely recommend this book! I received a free copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily leaving a review which is my opinion alone.
Excellent book
Secrets abound in the shadows of Stone Wolf Mountain, and I was completely invested in trying to unwind the thread of clues. Each one steered me in one direction only to yank me back, raising even more questions. I couldn’t put it down.
Looking for sisters lost on the mountain Jack discovers a body and comes face to face with Terra the woman he loved and lost. As danger closes in around them, will they be able to overcome the past to grab hold of the future, or will their second chance be cut short?
