Primary Sources

This is an introductory lesson about primary source materials.  It provides students with guidelines and strategies to use when analyzing a variety of primary sources, then allows them the opportunity to practice.  It incorporates a jigsaw activity that the teacher can use as part of whole-group instruction, or students can simply work through the material independently.  Reflection questions and formative assessment questions are included at the end.
