Small-town publisher Arthur Crimes stumbles over the body of an elderly man at an isolated pond. As he tries to uncover the identity of the murderer, weeding through multiple suspects, he is assisted by his good friend, Eve, a popular true-crime writer who hopes to get a book deal out of the business. During a book fair in town that week, Arthur, Eve, and Arthur's girlfriend, Winnie, are continually surprised to learn the connections between some of the townspeople and the victim. And why has one of Arthur's authors sent another person in his stead to deliver a lecture? But is someone else, someone deadly, following their every move, waiting to strike without warning ...?
