Project Charter

Project Charter- describes the techniques used by project managers to prepare a project charter. It covers the objectives, major deliverables, risks, assumptions and resources that the proposed project will require. The charter can also include recommendations on project manager authority and the accountability structure for the project.

There are three scenarios which show a project manager applying the techniques on three different size projects:

-A  small project with a department manager as the sponsor and the team drawn from the same department, using basic project techniques and processes. 

-A larger project with a large team drawn from many departments and many high ranking stakeholders, using more sophisticated techniques.

- A consulting project for a multi-national organization with operations in 15 countries, using  advanced techniques for this multimillion dollar project.
