Proserpine and Midas

Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was a British novelist, short story writer, dramatist, best known for her Gothic horror story “Frankenstein: or, The Modern Prometheus”.  Despite the fact, that “Frankenstein” made her noted as one-novel author, in recent decades the republication of almost all her writings has stimulated a new recognition of its value. 

This is a short collection of two dramas written by Mary Shelley along classical lines. The first relates the history of Proserpine and how after disregarding the advice of her mother, and separating from her attendants, she is kidnapped by the King of Hell. The second drama is "Midas". Mary Shelley described Midas as a "short mythological comic drama in verse".
