Publisher Description

‘Punished’ is the inspiring true story of an unusual little girl, Vanessa, whose childhood was devastated by torture and abuse at the hands of her sadistic mother. Vanessa was nearly destroyed until she discovered a secret that ultimately saved her life.

From the age of 3, Vanessa lived in daily terror of her mother's unpredictable rage. If she was 'naughty', her mother would lash out at her – with beatings, torture, starvation and making Vanessa sleep in their garden's pigsty, tied up like an animal. Her mother said her punishments were God's revenge on her for being the devil's child. Her father lived in denial of her suffering.

When she was 6 years old, Vanessa's grandfather began to sexually abuse her – to her despair, aided and abetted by both her mother and grandmother. At eight years old, she then discovered that the 'mother' who hated her so much had adopted her as a baby and would never love her as her own.

At the most horrific times of Vanessa's abuse, she nearly lost all hope that she would escape her prison, until mysterious things started to happen to her that allowed her to fight back.

This is the story of how Vanessa survived a childhood that nearly destroyed her and how her secret led her out of the horrors of her past.

Punished

How can you say a book that cuts you through the heart is good reading? How can you say something so unimaginable kept you on the edge of your seat and you enjoyed it? Society kept us so in the dark concerning personal family issues for so long. Now it's out there for you to read, cry and become part of the darkest terror of children being not PUNISHED as the title would indicate but actually terrorized. I turned each page feeling helpless and scared for this precious little girl. I could not imagine the fear and loneliness she felt until the pages of this book laid it down in black and white. It made me feel every feeling from love to disgust. I am not sure how this book made me feel present in each act of torture she received. I wanted to help this child escape the hell she lived in. I highly recommend this book although you may have to keep reminding your self this is true it happened. A little girls heart, body mind and future was damaged by this so called mother or in my eyes MONSTER. I recommend this book as a tool to remind us to love our children, protect their innocence and more than my heart can say remember they are God's most precious gift and only loaned to us. We have an obligation to teach them about love. The book was written well very easy to read and become a part of. I went in and hugged my grandchildren after reading it. I fell it is part of my responsibility to try and help and child who is being (as they say in this book) punished. Thank you for allowing me to speak my opinion. BLESS THE BEAST AND THE CHILDREN for in this world they have no voice they have no choice. Let's all stand up and protect the voice. Enjoy! Oh and keep your eyes out for a child who may be punished too!!
