I found my Queen, but I'm no King.
Ivy Johnson is my complete opposite; kind and innocent with a white picket fence lifestyle.
Yet somehow when we're together, she makes me whole. Her cheeky grin and contagious laughter, a balm to the way I viewed life. She brought color to my lifeless world.
We had it all, a beautiful and carefree beginning. Something amazing was building between us, something real.
But one f****d-up accident ruined it all. Then the world fought against us. Pursuing me and my family at every turn. Not even my past was off-limits.
We held strong, like a hundred-year-old tree staring down a hurricane. Until… Ivy ruined it all.
The pain in her eyes. The tears which spilled.
I despised Ivy more than I hated my memories.
The fear evident in her eyes, the knowledge I'd given up fighting for us.
Hate sprung from love, an endless supply of fire, both created from my heart.
All my nightmares and fears had scorched me from the inside out.
I promised myself, my heart would heal and learn to beat without her.
I never wanted it to end this way. My dream was to look back one day and say I loved her right. Instead, I'll be the reason she loses the only family she has left. And nothing will stop me as I choke on memories of the past and stay trapped in the recess of my mind, spiraling out of control.
Blinded by my weaknesses, fate raises her ugly head and proves nothing is guaranteed in this world, not even the life of the ones we love.

Holding Onto Fire
Once again I am blown away with the family bond in this series, they are stronger than most blood families and they were created in heartbreak and courage. Each book has continued to get better and Pursue did not disappoint.
Kelso was more of a mystery than any of the other characters, we know of his reputation that he is playboy and a flirt but that is where is story has ended previous. Kelso is the youngest of the King brothers and is struggling the most with their horrific childhood. He hates to be touched and is short tempered and fight any chance he gets. Ivy Johnson the sheriff's daughter is a breath of fresh air and she brings light into Kelso world and helps him to heal. She see the weak, strong, & determined man that he is and loves him for his past, present and future. Their love story is beautiful and is filled with raw emotions. Ivy lives by a motto her mother always use to say "decide what makes you happy and fight for it", that is the perfect saying for Kelso & Ivy's relationship. Don't ever stop fighting for what you love! Pursue was darker than any of the previous novels and delves deeper into the King's past, it is also the first book that ends on a semi cliffhanger.
All hail Kelso King!
4.5 stars for - Pursue - book four in the Portland Street Kings by Evie Harper. While technically this book could be read as a stand alone I honestly feel you would get more from the series and characters if you were to read them in order. This story does have much darker content than some of the other books and reader discretion is advised. Family is everything to the Kings and they will do anything they have to do to protect the one's they love.
Ivy Johnson knows what it's like for life to take a drastic turn in another direction. Losing her mother and having her father abandon her to his grief caused a significant strain in their once close relationship. While Ivy still loves her dad she refuses to tolerate him trying to control her life especially when it comes to him interfering with her relationship.
Kelso King swore he would never fall for a woman until he started spending more and more time with his Red. She seemed to understand him in ways no one else ever could and give him everything he seems to need without even trying. The only issue is her father, who just so happens to be the sheriff - hates him and his family doesn't need anymore drama in their lives.
This book had my emotions all over the place from laugh out loud funny to ugly crying tears, I truly loved all the feels from start to finish and could not put it down. The chemistry Kelso and Ivy had was off the charts, but the romance and friendship was also there too. Then of course the sense of family that the Kings have is what makes this series great. Can't wait now for Pacer's book next :)
Emotional 5 stars!!
I devoured this book, I love this series and the boys of The Portland Kings, each one has their own heartbreaking story.
However I think Kelso is my favorite.
His story was RAW AND HARD TO READ.
His strength and courage is remarkable and his connection to Ivy is undeniable.
The two of them had me turning the pages,
I adore Ivy she's the kind of heroine you want to read, she's strong and resilient.
A fighter as is Kelso their fight to be together had my heart beating fast.
This story is fast paced and will take you on quite the ride. The bond this family has is nothing short of AMAZING. When they love, they love fiercely and no one and nothing will tear them apart.
Get ready because the King men are back and their stronger than ever.
