And glue your iPad to your fingers till you are done. Trust me when I say, you're not going to want to put the book down once you start so use some glue and use it as an excuse not too!
Fantastic. Epic. GREAT!!!! I love book series and am usually let down by them. Harry Potter. Hunger Games. Outlander (still pretty good but after book five? Boring!)

Don't start this book unless you are prepared to stay up all night. I couldn't put this book down. If you like adventure mixed in with science fiction and teenagers, you will enjoy this story.
This was an engaging story from beginning to end. Well, written with characters you can become invested in the first book is free and will draw you in. I look forward to the next two books in the series.
Intensely suspenseful and well-written. Nerve-wracking in parts with deep character development. I quite enjoyed it but the question is do I want to pay cash for the other 3 parts of the series? I probably will.
I am not generally a fan of the apocalypse genre. Perhaps those types of stories literally hit too close to home for my taste. But this story is an interesting crossover between planetary apocalypse and alien encounter with a strong dose of very tame young adult romance. The references/links to human history and mythology appealed to me, although I would have enjoyed more of it. The middle of the story is the most action-filled and engaging, in my opinion, while the final round of training and competition seems more rushed and superficial, lacking the personal conflict that would be expected in that situation.
Well written and great read no matter your age. Could not stop reading it! Looking forward to reading next book.
Such a tremendous array of believable young characters and dynamics in an unbelievably hard situation. Plus a new culture and new physics that make enough sense to be from another very believable world.
Its really cool and interesting, I got hooked within the first 100 pages or so. Its a nice sci-fi story with high stakes and cool twists. Gwen is an interesting character and you get to follow her through her ingenuity and determination. Its really nice watching the story unfold.
The concept and writing are good, however, the idea of turning these kids into psychotic killers to qualify is bizarre. This is a supposedly higher human civilization. I have read this series previously and understand more is explained there but it can be deeply disturbing to read especially for younger people. This should not be considered normal or acceptable.
