Publisher Description
Prescient and chilling, DeMille's #1 New York Times bestselling novel takes us into the heart of a new Cold War with a clock-ticking plot that has Manhattan in its crosshairs.
After a showdown with the notorious Yemeni terrorist known as The Panther, John Corey has left the Anti-Terrorist Task Force and returned home to New York City, taking a job with the Diplomatic Surveillance Group. Although Corey's new assignment with the DSG-surveilling Russian diplomats working at the U.N. Mission-is thought to be "a quiet end," he is more than happy to be out from under the thumb of the FBI and free from the bureaucracy of office life.
But Corey realizes something the U.S. government doesn't: The all-too-real threat of a newly resurgent Russia.
When Vasily Petrov, a colonel in the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service posing as a diplomat with the Russian U.N. Mission, mysteriously disappears from a Russian oligarch's party in Southampton, it's up to Corey to track him down. What are the Russians up to and why? Is there a possible nuclear threat, a so-called radiant angel? Will Corey find Petrov and put a stop to whatever he has planned before it's too late? Or will Corey finally be outrun and outsmarted, with America facing the prospect of a crippling attack unlike anything it's ever seen before?
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Old-fashioned spycraft meets modern geopolitics in Radiant Angel, the seventh book in the John Corey series starring a much beloved, wise-cracking former police detective working for the Diplomatic Surveillance Group. While working on a simple assignment monitoring the movements of former KGB agent Vasily Petrov, Corey is thrust into the position of preventing a nuclear attack on New York City. Spy thriller fans will love author Nelson DeMille’s breakneck pace and round-the-clock action—and newcomers to the series will immediately be won over by Corey's self-deprecating, cynical humor.

Great read!
I thought this was a great John Corey book except (warning: spoilers) his personal life. I gave it four stars and would have given five but Mr. DeMille (and this is not the first time) failed to give adequate back story regarding John and Kate. I guess they split as effortlessly and unemotionally as they got together so maybe that makes sense... Still, I liked them together and thought she did a good job of seeing the best in him and being (mostly) at peace with the rest. Unfortunately, she ended up as (apparently) inconvenient baggage. Again, so I end on a positive note, because the book was very good, I recommend it and enjoyed it - lots of fun Corey dialogue and a great story.
Rushed
Good story that moved quickly. Sad to see Kate & John break up with not much revealed as to why.
Radiant Angel. Nelson DeMille
John Corey a retired NYPD Homicide Detective, also has worked with the Feds Anti Terrorist Task Force and now The Diplomatic Surveillance Group. A boring job he had to take in lieu of being terminated. He has a problem with following the rules, dosen’t get along well with Muslims he encounters on the job and follows his own rules. He and his temporary partnerTess a Federal Agent are trying to prevent a nuclear device being detonated in the New York. Harbor by a Russian colonel masquerading as a Russian Embassy official. An excellent read!! enjoyed immensely!!
