Rafe was paid millions to kill Asa Trent. Now he'd kill for nothing to keep him.

Two contracts sit on Asa Trent. One pays millions to make him talk and then put him in the ground. The other pays almost nothing and says only this: find him; he'll be scared; help him.

Rafe takes both, and the big payout is the one he intends to finish. He's made a career of getting answers from people and never asks why two clients want the same man. He just hunts him down.

Then he finds Asa bolted to a chair, barely breathing, pressing his forehead against the barrel of the gun and begging to be done. Rafe has never walked away from a job, but for some inexplicable reason, this is the one he can't finish.

Asa has spent his life trying to find where the chain ends. All he wants is the pain to end, but instead he wakes in a stranger's house, broken and terrified, with no idea why he's still alive. The man standing over him is the one who was sent to kill him, and the last thing Asa remembers is begging that man to finish it. He has no idea why he's alive, and he doesn't trust a single second of it.

Someone still wants Asa dead, and Rafe will burn the world down before he lets them have him. The hard part is loving him enough to leave every door open.
