Raindrops and Rooftops

Raindrops and Rooftops is part of the Smithsonian Science Stories Literacy Series. Raindrops and Rooftops features short stories that pair with the module, How Do Weather and Climate Affect Our Lives? Both are aligned to grade 3 standards and have a focus on science and engineering. In Raindrops and Rooftops, students will read about predicting weather and why it is important to be prepared for severe weather. 


Raindrops and Rooftops includes the following features:

• Stories that focus on changes in weather forecasting from the past to the present
• Stories that highlight science and engineering careers
• Incorporation of objects used to predict the weather from the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and records of weather data collection from the Smithsonian National Museum of American History and Smithsonian Libraries 
• On-grade and below-grade formats
