Nice reading for winter evening near fire place. Just a lil bit to sad.
Ravished by the Duke
I really wanted to like this book. I just can’t give this book a good review. In fact, I would give it a zero if I could.
The storyline sounded intriguing, but the characterization of the main characters or any of the characters was not well thought out. Throughout the book, I found myself thinking, “ she wouldn’t say that or he wouldn’t do that. That doesn’t make sense.”
In addition, research needs to be done on the time period in which the novel takes place. There are many inconsistencies with how the social classes would have interacted with one another (they wouldn’t have) one example of this is when a lawyer is interacting with a duke and duchess at a ball. This would not have been done in those times. Another example of lack of knowledge or poor research is the when whiskey is poured in wine glasses. There was no explanation why this was done....which added to the lack of attention to detail.
Lastly, the language and conventions need a lot of work. At times the book reads as though the author does not have a strong command of the English language or maybe a child helped to write some parts of the book.
Overall, I can not recommend this book. Do not waste your money.
I couldn’t even finish this book, it made my skin crawl with how much forced intimacy and almost rape was going on. I feel like I need to scrub my brain.
