Publisher Description

Does your gym membership suck money out of your bank account while you sit at home? Are your running sneakers lying in the closet losing their shape because they haven’t been on your feet in months? Is your bike collecting dust?

After more than 30 years of working out while living with cerebral palsy, I want to help readers of all abilities make exercise part of their life.

The book came out of working on a blog series called “Seeking Positive Answers.” I wanted to explore the idea of someone seeing my efforts to stay in shape as something special or inspirational. Reach Past Your Limits pulls concrete strategies from that moment of inspiration that will truly motivate people of all ability levels to exercise. I offer simple ideas that readers can use to get started immediately, including my “Top 4 Tips to Stay Motivated to Work Out.”

Finding time to work out, dealing with aches and pains, getting older . . . these are things that will get in the way of an exercise regimen for everyone at some point. As we age, staying motivated with realistic goals that still push us to be our best is essential. My experience in dealing with many obstacles to a healthier life gives me a unique perspective that will help readers choose exercise over excuses. From training to ride in a 75-mile cycling event to shooting baskets on a 10-foot regulation hoop despite a disability that complicates coordination, I’ve seen the importance of setting real life goals to do things that seem almost impossible. The book covers these topics and more in simple, easy-to-read chapters that will help you reach past your limits.

Reach Past Your Limits

A quick, informative read that goes into the author’s views on motivation and provides concrete examples on how to set goals and maintain your focus/motivation when exercising. I’ve been slacking on the gym for a few months now since I started a new job and my schedule changed. Reading this is the push I needed to get back into the habit of making time to work out.
