Real World Contrast
An interesting novel written from the points of view of the main characters. It seems almost a black comedy as the decisions of the characters take them further and further away from any sort of meaningful positive outcome. It took me a little while to get into, and then held my attention. Whilst this novel is no Kafka on the Shore, it is an OK read for those that enjoy Japanese literature.
Odd premise, worse ending
The premise was quite odd, but when looking at it through a critique of the social aspect of adolescence in Japan, it starts to make sense. However the ending, does not follow that same pretense, read with caution.
