Beautiful, wild, and strange—Meroe Island is a desolate spot in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with a mysterious history of shipwrecks, cannibalism, and even rumors of murder. It’s the perfect destination for the most adventurous traveler to escape everything... except the truth.
SIX VISITORS
Six stunning twentysomethings are about to embark on a blissful, free-spirited journey—one filled with sun-drenched days and intoxicating nights. But as it becomes clear that the group is even more cut off from civilization than they initially thought, it starts to feel like the island itself is closing in, sending them on a dangerous spiral of discovery.
COUNTLESS SECRETS
When one person goes missing and another turns up dead, the remaining friends wonder what dark currents lie beneath this impenetrable paradise—and who else will be swept under its secluded chaos. With its island gothic sensibility, sexy suspense, and spine-tingling reimagining of an Agatha Christie classic, Reckless Girls will wreck you.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Love, deceit, and death collide in this sweltering tropical tale from Rachel Hawkins, author of the bestseller The Wife Upstairs. Down-on-her-luck Lux McAllister has finally found the love of her life. Nico is handsome and ripped, and he owns a boat that can take them anywhere in the world. When college friends Brittney and Amma run into the couple at a Hawaii marina, the foursome decide to set sail to a secluded and mysterious island where they encounter a wealthy couple’s luxury yacht already docked there. Suffice it to say, this sexy, sun-drenched holiday quickly takes a very dark turn. With each person harboring explosive past traumas (like a car accident wiping out one character’s entire family) and shocking secrets (from drug dealing and robbery to flagrant infidelity), the drama is riveting. Reckless Girls held our attention hostage until the final twist.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
The hope of Lux McAllister, the protagonist of this diabolically plotted nail-biter from bestseller Hawkins (The Wife Upstairs), that sailing the Pacific with her hot new boyfriend, Nico Johannsen, will help put a tragic past behind her stalls in Maui, along with Nico's damaged boat. Then a pair of strangers, college besties Amma and Brittany, offer the couple a huge sum that covers the boat's repair to take them to remote, notorious Meroe Island. Insecure Lux accurately anticipates sexual tension among the four 20-somethings during the voyage; what she doesn't expect is to arrive at their middle-of-nowhere destination to find a luxury catamaran already anchored off the beach, GQ-ready twosome Jake and Eliza on deck. Later, while exploring the island, Lux is alarmed to stumble on a skull clearly too fresh to be from the 1821 shipwreck that gave Meroe its name. As tempers fray and tensions mount, Lux belatedly realizes she has unsuspectingly ventured into treacherous waters indeed. Though several of the startling twists leading up to a killer climax are as arbitrary as those in Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None (itself among Hawkins's apparent inspirations), this thriller still makes for dangerously addictive reading.

Interesting
This has interesting characters and plot, lots of twists. No one is particularly likeable. It’s an interesting story well written.
Twisted
The ending was definitely a good twist!!!!!
Crazy and riveting
Didn’t think the ending would happen the way it did. I was captivated by the entire story and how they’d all deceived one another and how Lux got out and turned into Amma with the same tattoo IN THE AFTER
