Publisher Description
You never forget your first love. Now mine is delivering my baby…
Everyone always accuses me of being reckless.
With my choices.
With my heart.
The baby growing inside me proves them right.
So does the fact that I just got myself stuck in the middle of a hurricane with the first man I ever loved.
The one who shattered me with four simple words.
It was a mistake.
Now he's the only one who can keep me and my baby alive.
But I'm not sure we can weather the storm without our past destroying us completely.
And even if we do survive the tempest, another danger waits for us, one that that's far worse…

Loved it!
I love the Hawke family. They always rally around one another. Pope and Allie have history, and we finally know what happened all those years ago. I loved that his first reaction was to protect her and Benjamin. I loved that Benjamin decided his birth needed to be dramatic. This book brought the angst and drama. Loved it!
Is he or isn’t he?
This book reads like the others in the series. It has a couple fighting to be together. Their back story is similar to the others but this could’ve been half as long because there’s a lot of unnecessary repetition of a ten year old incident that shouldn’t have evolved into this story.
I gave this book a two because I want the author to see this and I wasn’t sure it would post if I gave it a one. On the cover of this book is a dark skinned black man. It’s the main reason I started this series. No where on any page in this story is Pope described as black. There are no references to nor appreciation shown for black anything - traditions, paintings in his parents home, culture, music, even food. It’s New Orleans.
Be intentional. If you’re going to have other ethnicities then be authentic in your portrayal. It’s ok if Pope and his family are not black. They can be close friends to the Hawkes, treated like family, from Jamaica, great at security, shooting and baking, and be white.
Wow!
I love each new book in the Hawke family. There’s something special about each of them. Allie and Pope are no exception. I love that there’s so much character development, especially with Allie. I felt like she grew as a person so much by the end, it was amazing. It felt like Pope had matured a lot off the page, and he did do some on page, but Allie’s growth was big. I enjoy reading characters that feel real because they’re not stagnating in the book. The s3xy times were amazing, as always. It wouldn’t be a Gwyn McNamee book if they weren’t.
