Red Masquerade

Louis Joseph Vance (1879–1933) was an American author and novelist, mostly known for short stories, and popular novels that brought him universe recognition especially for his character "Michael Lanyard", also known as "The Lone Wolf", that was featured in eight books and 24 films between 1914 and 1949, and also appeared in radio and television series.

In the book entitled “Red Masquerade” by Louise Joseph Vance the author gives narration of beginning of Michael Lanyard's career. Michael Lanyard alias The Lone Wolf, the most talented thief of his day, made the acquaintance of the beautiful Princess Sofia, but he also made an enemy of her husband, Prince Victor. Years later, Lanyard's daughter gets into the crossfiere... Red Masquerade is the third book in the Lone Wolf Series.
