#1 NATIONAL BESTSELLER • NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE • The classic story that has captured the hearts of millions worldwide: a tragically wounded soul, the man called to marry her, and the only love that heals all.
“A literary masterpiece, reminding us that God’s love is unconditional.”—Debbie Macomber
California’s gold country, 1850. A time when men sold their souls for a bag of gold and women sold their bodies for a place to sleep.
Angel expects nothing from men but betrayal. Sold into prostitution as a child, she survives by keeping her hatred alive. And what she hates most are the men who use her, leaving her empty and dead inside.
Then she meets Michael Hosea, a man who seeks his Father’s heart in everything. Michael obeys God’s call to marry Angel and to love her unconditionally. Slowly, day by day, he defies Angel’s every bitter expectation, until despite her resistance, her frozen heart begins to thaw.
But with her unexpected softening comes overwhelming feelings of unworthiness and fear. And so Angel runs. Back to the darkness, away from her husband’s pursuing love, terrified of the truth she no longer can deny: her final healing must come from the One who loves her even more than Michael does . . . the One who will never let her go.
A powerful retelling of the story of Gomer and Hosea, Redeeming Love is a life-changing story of God’s unconditional, redemptive, all-consuming love.

My Favorite Book
I study the biblical texts and theology at Point Loma Nazarene University, and coming from a background of biblical studies I really appreciate the intricate imagery of the book of Hosea that's been woven into River's story. The book of Hosea happens to be among my favorite books of the bible. The imagery of the Bridegroom's restorative and intimate love and pursuit of His people is weighty and inspiring. Francine Rivers crafts a marvelous work of art which profoundly depicts this "redeeming love". I highly recommend this book for both women and men!
Review from a guys perspective
When I asked my 21 year old niece to name her favorite book, I'm glad I didn't ask her to tell me what "Redeeming Love" was about. If I knew it was a romance novel, I'm sure I would have dismissed it. It is much more - each chapter is a cliffhanger, not allowing you to put the book down. The romance isn't just between the characters of the book, it is about the romance between each man and woman reader, and our heavenly father, the friend we have in Jesus, and how He peruses us, and forgives us, and is not willing to forsake us. It's about undeserved love. Every imperfect person that reads this book will relate to the characters and finish the book a better person.
A true "must-read"
A thought provoking, all-consuming, heart-breaking, heart-warming book. If you could only read one book in your life time, aside from the Holy Bible, I'd recommend it be Redeeming Love. Yes, it really is that good.
