Publisher Description

The first human-like ancestor is believed to appear between five to seven million years ago. Since then, mankind gradually evolved into the intelligent beings they are today. Over the course of history, they have brought vast and magnificent civilizations into life again and again, but at the cost of the balance on Earth.

Ever since the first industrial revolution in the mid-18th Century, humans started draining the seemingly everlasting fount of resources. The human greed expanded with their civilization, and they never stopped taking from the Earth. As skyscrapers reach higher, the corresponding effects on the environment exacerbates. Humans have recently awaken to see the consequences of their actions.

In the big picture, we have made a conscious effort to observe and recognize the changes in our environment. Ocean acidification, animal agriculture and endangerment, melting ice sheets, greenhouse gases…these are only a fraction of the issues we must overcome to secure the survival of the human race, and planet Earth. Over the last decades, we have been attempting to make ample efforts in order to compensate for the damage we have inflicted. For example, the reintroduction of some species and adapting sustainable energy sources, etc. Fortunately, a few of these attempts have been successful to some degree and more people are involved in the cause. We must not lose hope to cure the deteriorating Earth that we depend on to survive.

This book is an evaluation of the current solutions to anthropogenic impacts on the Earth.
