Publisher Description

Jordanians Insist on Constitutional Monarchy While Jordan's regime wants to enact minimal reforms to appease the people, who have been demonstrating for months to call for economic and political restructurings, the opposition seems determined to accept nothing less than a constitutional monarchy, the Beirut-based influential daily AN NAHAR said June 26. "It's clear that no one in the regime, including the king, the government and security agencies, want reforms that go beyond a minimum that is enough to defuse internal tensions and enhance the kingdom's tarnished image abroad," the newspaper added in an Amman-datelined report that carried no byline.
