Cassandra duped by her best friend,Camille,yet she kept vigil  and consoled her tormentor while she died,telling us betrayal and forgiveness has no boundaries, Martha resigned herself to life of lonelinees  after her  husband's suicide.My own romantic experiences with Elaine who risked her life for us to have a child against the wishes of her doctors  despite her own life dangled on a thread being a sickle cell victim displayed the power of love. Miranda brought up in the ghetto by parents of guttered morals. She rose from the ashes of degradation to become a role model,having herself unknowlingly fell in love with a drug trafficker. A former police officer whose paralysis was due to a drunk driver. Yet the officer forgave him and forged a meaningful relationship with the individual, speaks of our capacity for mercy. Yet others wilted under pressure   like Belinda a victim of sexual abuse and drug addiction. wilted under pressure resigned her self to death at age 28. Jessica's  greed and infidelity,amassing monetary assets while her own morals  sank to rock bottom,as she tettered on the brink of an incestuous relationship with a son she abandoned at age three whom she failed to recognize, saved her from a life of penury offering her a new lease on life. And there was Jackie holder of a first degree unable to get a job for two years until she landed one, she was offered a choice of sleeping with her superior or risked loosing her financial independence. My mom and brother saw their deaths with happy anticipation. The book takes you on a life's journey paved with good and bad, to our final destination DEATH. My wish is for anyone who is given a medical death warrant enjoys the same or better feeling that I have experience since.
