Remember when You Were an Intern? (For Principals & Supervising Teachers‪)‬

Do you remember when you were an intern? Many of us are far removed from that first experience in the field. The numerous tasks that consume our daily agendas have taken us far beyond these beginnings. Managing conflicts, dealing with unhappy parents and students, crisis interventions, IEP meetings, conferences, e-mails, letters of recommendation, committee meetings ... the list continues. I can remember very clearly the first day of my internship as an undergraduate student in elementary education. I was so excited to begin. I had taken all of my classes, practiced teaching mini-lessons, and studied all of the human development and educational psychology theories. Showing up at the school on my first day was overwhelming for me. I was filled with wonder and awe of the profession I loved. I could not wait to get started. Luckily, I had a great experience. I was welcomed with open arms and was treated as another professional working toward one common goal: creating a center of high-quality learning.
