Give It Time!

I have finished the series. If you enjoy dark fantasy shoujo, this is right up your alley. The premise is loosely based on the War of the Roses from English history and Shakespeare’s Richard III & IV. The art is gorgeous. The romance is tragic.
However, if you struggle with depictions of sexual assault or gender dysphoria, this series is NOT for you. The protagonist struggles with intersex issues that are integral to the plot.
Unfortunately, it takes 2-3 volumes before the plot and characters really grip you. The most confusing part is keeping track of the politics and characters with the same name (there are 2 Edward’s, 2 Richard’s, etc). Also, there are time jumps with almost no transition; it can take a few pages before you realize years have passed between chapters.
