Customer Reviews
Common people
I enjoyed the story as it was more about the common people than the nobility. I especially enjoyed the cat and his part and voice in the telling of the story. It was cute and entertaining. I received an ARC for an honest review.
Unique and Fun Read
This is a fun and unique holiday romance. I felt a bit lost at first because I probably needed to have read her other books. I enjoyed the storyline with banter, surprises, misunderstanding, fear, a “beast”, wittiness, loneliness, sweetness, and a mysteriously talented cat. Two epilogues. Overall a humorous and enjoyable read.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Funny and Heartwarming
Brier Chapman is a widower who has very little interest in romance since his wife died. That is until a very wet, very frightened, and very attractive woman burst through the door of his shop a few days before Christmas. Lucinda Thomalin, an unemployed lady’s companion, has just been in a horrible carriage accident and is running scared from what she believes is a beast. Brier reluctantly allows her to stay to get out of the weather and have her injuries tended. Barnabas, Brier’s cat is pleased because Luce gives great chin rubs. This is a very funny story, and told from Barnabas’s point of view. With a “meow” here and a “mew” there, the feline nudges the two lonely people together. The characters, especially Brier and Luce are great. Their banter is laugh-out-loud funny, in a Shakespearian way. There is strong chemistry between these two, and it shows when his siblings visit on Christmas Day. This entertaining story has a dash of mystery (the beast), a second chance romance, a delightful family, and a confident cat. Will the widower and the companion find happiness and love? Well, Me-Ow!
