A puppy mill and a dog theft ring thrust Sarah Landon into a high-stakes battle. Haunted by betrayal and loss, Sarah, an animal rescuer and freelance graphic designer, risks her life to save dogs discovered at a fire. County fire captain Callen Ross assists her, but mistakenly identifies her as the owner of the dogs, gravitating the pair into a confrontation.

Upon realizing his mistake, Callen fights alongside Sarah to close down the mill and seek justice for the canines. They both soon learn of a dognapping operation happening in and around their community.

Meeting and working with Callen adds a flame to Sarah's world, and every heartbeat brings her closer to danger — and a destiny filled with love and redemption.
