Resiliency

This book introduces five resiliency characteristics, identified in literature from the ecological sciences, that can be employed as design and planning strategies for urban environments. It provides some context for the development of resiliency theory, defines resiliency, outlines the goals and strategies for the creation of resilient systems, and provides some examples of emerging approaches. This is a book about theory that is meant to stimulate designers, planners, and urban dwellers to conceive new forms and processes that will guide the co-evolution of the built environment and the resources on which we depend.
