Response to Intervention
Implementation Guide 2014
Publisher Description
Response to Intervention (RtI) is a seamless, comprehensive, student-centered, problem-solving approach that integrates high quality, standards-based instruction, assessment, and intervention within a multi-tier prevention system for early identification of students who are at risk academically or behaviorally. RtI employs the consultation and combined talents of interdisciplinary, interdependent teams and specialists in the general education classroom setting to develop interventions that are strategically matched to learners’ academic, social-emotional, and/or behavioral needs. Ongoing progress monitoring and frequent data collection guide all instructional decisions to improve learning outcomes and to increase student achievement. Therefore, Response to Intervention is viewed as a safety net that provides needed supports to students without first waiting for them to fail.
