Publisher Description
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Michael Connelly: Lincoln Lawyer Mickey Haller enlists the help of his half-brother, Harry Bosch, to prove the innocence of a woman convicted of killing her husband. Inspiration for the #1 TV show on Netflix, The Lincoln Lawyer series.
Defense attorney Mickey Haller is back, taking the long shot cases, where the chances of winning are one in a million. After getting a wrongfully convicted man out of prison, he is inundated with pleas from incarcerated people claiming innocence. He enlists his half brother, retired LAPD Detective Harry Bosch, to weed through the letters, knowing most claims will be false.
Bosch pulls a needle from the haystack: a woman in prison for killing her husband, a sheriff’s deputy, but who still maintains her innocence. Bosch reviews the case and sees elements that don’t add up, and a sheriff’s department intent on bringing quick justice in the killing of one of its own.
Now Haller has an uphill battle in court, a David fighting Goliaths to vindicate his client. The path for both lawyer and investigator is fraught with danger from those who don’t want the case reopened and will stop at nothing to keep the Haller-Bosch dream team from finding the truth. Packed with intrigue and courtroom drama, Resurrection Walk shows once again that Michael Connelly is “the most consistently superior living crime fiction author” (South Florida Sun Sentinel).
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Mickey Haller, also known as the Lincoln Lawyer, and onetime LAPD detective Harry Bosch team up in this all-star legal thriller from Michael Connelly. Defense attorney Mickey Haller takes on the most desperate cases—like that of Lucinda Sanz, who was poorly advised to take a plea deal when she was accused of killing her sheriff’s deputy ex-husband. But once Haller enlists his half-brother, retired detective Harry Bosch, to investigate the murder, the pair start uncovering evidence that the supposedly open-and-shut case is way more complicated…and dangerous. Connelly neatly shuttles between Haller’s and Bosch’s POVs as he lays out this stunningly convoluted investigation. Even before its courthouse finale, Resurrection Walk has all the twists and angles of Connelly at his best.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bestseller Connelly's paint-by-numbers seventh legal thriller featuring Mickey Haller (after 2020's The Law of Innocence) again teams the L.A. defense attorney with his half-brother, ex-LAPD officer Harry Bosch, who holds down his own Connelly series. After freeing a man wrongly convicted of murder with Bosch's help, Haller has launched a pro bono "in-house innocence project" to investigate questionable convictions, with Bosch vetting potential clients. Bosch recommends Haller look into the case of Lucinda Sanz, who pled no contest to manslaughter five years earlier for fatally shooting her ex-husband Roberto, an L.A. County sheriff's deputy. Sanz now claims she was innocent and entered the plea to avoid the risk of a life sentence after a trial. As the case never went to a jury, the records are sparse, but the investigative partners find enough question marks—including a key witness who admits that his statements were coerced—to pursue a federal claim that Sanz has been unlawfully imprisoned. Meanwhile, the powers that be, including some shadowy figures in the LAPD, will do everything they can to keep the case closed. Connelly is on autopilot here: the courtroom theatrics are bog standard, and much of the dialogue lands with a thud. This disappoints.

Suspenseful page turner
A well researched novel on time and courtroom tactics used to free an innocent person serving prison time for a crime she didn’t commit.
