Devastated with grief, and haunted by guilt over the death of her parents, Gwynn is forced to live with relatives she's never known on their remote mountain farm. Fearing for her life, Gwynn flees into the unknown wilderness.  Running from her uncle's hounds, consumed by fear and exhaustion, Gwynn takes refuge in a rocky crevice.  Following the crevice deep into the mountain, Gwynn  emerges to find herself in a strange world ruled by Kings, Magic and Evil.

Gwynn must learn to survive in this world as she discovers a Power within herself that both good and evil want to exploit.  Struggling with a new identity, pursued by enemies, and confronted with ancient revelations and prophecy, Gwynn must decide how she will use her Power, and whom she will serve.
