It was a good book, but short for the price

I really enjoyed the book. I watched the movie first and its one of my favorites. Top 10 of my favorite movies. I'm 27 and a mom but I've always loved reading and I've taken it back up at lot recently. The other night I watched the movie again and decided I was going to read the book this time. It was 12.99$ and 197 pages which is really short especially for the price. I got through it in a day. But I guess because I love the movie so much I was expecting a more in depth version of that. It wasn't that at all. Obviously the movie strayed from the book so it's not the books fault but the movie. However I was still left disappointed because I expected one story and got another. Bev was really different from book to film in just about every situation and relationship. She was legit a bad girl. Ray is in and out of the book too soon IMO. In the movie he's around much longer. And fay wasn't around much at all. And she was a completely different character. Also there is no scholarship that bev lost. Fay isn't with Bobby but an unnamed sailor. Bobby is with another friend and dies in Vietnam. Bev did kick ray out over heroin but she herself was doing a lot of drugs. Not heroin but speed, acid, coke, LSD and so forth. They did keep some facts from the book true in the movie. Overall though I thought it was almost a completely different story. As I said the book is a stand alone good book. But because I was expecting something different I ended up disappointed.

Absolutely heart-rending, exemplary, both film and book are filled with emotions.
